Gambel’s Quail

Gambel’s Quail are one of the most identifiable birds in the Sonoran Desert, both from its appearance and its call, as well as its taste.  Gambel Quail are one of the main birds to be hunted in the Southwest.  They were named Gambel’s quail because they used to be placed as bets in lieu of money in old saloons.
